I created By The Seat Of His Pants after a lifetime in business.

I am 88 years old. I have started businesses from scratch, usually without borrowing money. I've enjoyed success and I've experienced failure. I've made mistakes, solved problems, recognised opportunities and learned lessons that no university could ever have taught me.

And one lesson stands above all the others:

Nobody in business knows everything — but between us, we know an extraordinary amount.

That is the idea behind Bizzcomp.

It isn't about me. It's about us.

Somewhere in the world today, somebody has a wonderful business idea but no money to develop it.

Somewhere else, somebody has money to invest but is searching for the right opportunity.

Somebody is struggling with a business problem that another person solved twenty years ago.

Somebody has spent a lifetime gaining knowledge and experience that could be invaluable to a person taking their first steps into business.

Bizzcomp is intended to bring those people together.

If you want to start a business, we'll explore how to begin — including ways of starting with little or even no money.

If you already own a business, perhaps somebody here can help you make it better, bigger or more profitable.

This is not intended to be a place where one person stands at the front pretending to have all the answers.

It is a place where we ask questions, exchange ideas, share experience, discuss opportunities, admit our mistakes as well as celebrate our successes — and help one another.

The stories from my own life and business career that you'll find throughout the website are there for a reason. They aren't here simply to tell you about me. Each one contains something I learned — sometimes through success and quite often through getting it wrong.

If one of those lessons saves somebody from making the same mistake, gives somebody an idea, or encourages somebody to have a go, then telling the story was worthwhile.

But my experiences are only the beginning.
